2019 Merimnao Fall Benefit Dinner

Please join us for the 2019 Merimnao Fall Benefit Dinner, October 8, 2019.  Merimnao is a registered 501c3 organization in Katy, Texas who provides free support and growth groups to the brokenhearted and low-cost counseling services.

Over the past nine years, Merimnao has mostly relied on contributions from members and generous donors within the community. However, with the launch of new programs such as the Subsidized Counseling Services Program for members who are in need of financial assistance, regular contributions to our organization are not enough to fund these initiatives.  Therefore, events such as our Annual Benefit Dinner and auction are how we raise funds for the ministry and our programs, awareness and hope for the brokenhearted. With your help, Merimnao creates opportunities for healing for individuals and families within the Katy and West Houston areas.

Aside from supporting Merimnao and our efforts to help the broken, this event is also an excellent opportunity to showcase your community footprint through our sponsorship opportunities and networking with other valued non-profits and organizations.

Subsidized Counseling Services Program

Many group members desire or need further counseling or therapy in combination with support and growth groups. However, in many instances, they are faced with insurance or cost barriers which prevent them from receiving the additional support they need. Therefore, we are partnering with several local counselors to launch the Subsidized Counseling Services Program for Merimnao Healing Ministries. This program will provide our members with a cost-effective way for members who are in need of financial assistance to access local Christ-based counselors in the Katy and West Houston area. By implementing this program positive impacts include:

  • Promotion of mental health care as an essential aspect of health: Providing immediate care to those who are hurting who normally otherwise not seek care due to cost or insurance barriers
  • Economic viability: Enabling both clients and therapists to benefit economically; increasing the use of counseling by those who would benefit, and increasing the income level of participating therapists
  • Spiritual strengthening: Strengthening the local churches by providing a path to better mental and spiritual health for its members, without fear of losing their members.

KEYNOTE: Joe Madison, Executive Director - Love People Not Pixels

Joe Madison is a husband of 24 years and a proud father of 3.  His wife Jennifer is the perfect combination of integrity, beauty and toughness. Born in Texas City, Texas, he is about as native as a native Texan can get.  In 2016, Joe left the Oil & Gas industry after a 25-year career in strategic sales to fight human trafficking full-time.  In the time since, he has stood in the brothels, worked closely with law enforcement on sting operations, transported survivors to safety, talked to the exploited, the exploiters & the buyers & came to one realization:  to stop trafficking we must confront the truths about porn & demand.

  • In 2017 Joe joined the demand reduction organization Love People Not Pixels & now serves as Director. Love People Not Pixels fights human trafficking by confronting the demand for commercial sex.
  • Joe is the Founder of the community group T.O.P. (Sex Trafficking Opposition of Pearland) upon learning about 4 brothels operating in his own community. S.T.O.P. now has over 400 members & has led a change in local legislation to prevent brothels from opening & to shut down the existing ones.
  • Joe is the Lead Presenter and his wife is the Coordinator for Elijah Rising’s van tour, an awareness tour that takes attendees curbside to identify & explain what brothels really are & how to join the fight against trafficking. Joe also serves on the Advisory Council for Elijah Rising.
  • Joe is on the Board of the Brazoria County United Front Against Coalition against Trafficking.
  • Joe is also a proud original member of RISE Student Mentoring in Pearland I.S.D., currently mentoring 3 young men. RISE mentoring serves over 540 kids in PISD.
  • In 2017, Joe founded a small business called Come And Taste It Texas Foods, Inc., combining his pride for Texas, love for food & his passion for fighting trafficking. A portion of every product sold goes to fight human trafficking through the company’s Peppers With Purpose program.

“Do the work & let God do all of the rest” is a saying that the Madison family has heard Joe say often & is at the heart of the family’s reliance on their Christian faith to sustain & encourage them when facing the darkness of the human trafficking world.
