Merimnao Announces New Executive Director

Effective immediately, Jaclyn Townsend is named Executive Director of Merimnao Ministries after a unanimous Board of Directors vote. Ken Gross, former Executive Director will remain on the Board of Directors for Merimnao and is involved with the ministry as the Founding Director.  Jaclyn also sits on the Board of Directors and will assume all executive and operational roles and responsibilities related to Merimnao.

Jaclyn’s experience comes from her 14+ years in the corporate arena as it relates to Marketing and Communications in the oil and gas sector. She is a native Houstonian and is married with two children. Jaclyn’s passion for recovery and recovery-minded people comes from her own personal experiences and she is excited to take on this new endeavor.

Upcoming Facilitator Training Announcement

Merimnao will conduct its next Basic Facilitator Training on August 27th, 2016 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Fellowship located at 22765 Westheimer Parkway, Katy, TX 77450.

To register please email director@merimnao.org. We do limit each event to 16 participants.  Also, we ask that participants donate $50 for this training help cover costs for the event. Merimnao is a 501c3 organization so donations may be tax deductible. If you cannot attend this training session please email us so that we can include you on the waiting list for future training events.

Our Basic Facilitator Training is extensive, comprehensive and is designed for potential facilitators of Christ-centered support groups. Merimnao trained facilitators have gone on to lead groups such as divorce recovery, GriefShare, 12-step, betrayed women, sexual purity, sexual abuse, abortion recovery, substance abuse and general recovery. The trainers are actual facilitators from within Merimnao and will often speak out of their real-life facilitator experiences.

This training covers spiritual gifts in group leadership, group structure, the environmental elements of groups, skills of group facilitators, facilitator self-care, barriers to facilitation, emotions in groups and problems managing groups. The format is lecture and discussion with two practice exercises. The facilitator manual contains all the material covered in the sessions, plus tips for facilitators (i.e., what to do and who to call in emergencies), and extensive extra information on group rules, the power of groups and the problem of feedback in groups.

Two New Meetings Launched

Merimnao is excited to announce that it has launched two new meetings. Details are below.
Nikao, a new support group for women who have been sexually abused or traumatized in the past, will begin to meet every Wednesday at the Fellowship at 7:30 pm. Childcare is available with reservation. For more details please contact Nikao at Nikao@merimnao.org.

Parakaleo launches a second meeting in Stafford/Sugar Land. Parakaleo will meet at the Vineyard Church, 5015 Grove W. Blvd, Stafford, TX 77477, in Room B260 every Thursday beginning today. Board of Directors Announcement

It is with great joy that I announce that the Board of Directors of Merimnao have officially voted in favor of Ken Gross being the full-time Executive Director of Merimnao.  Although Ken has been working full time hours as a volunteer for Merimnao, he is now officially an employee of the ministry which will allow for the future growth of the ministry.

Facilitator Training Update

2-1-2015 – We have confirmed that our next basic training will be held at The Fellowship, starting at noon on 3/7.  Anyone interested in attending can get more information at info@merimnao.org.  As always, alumni are welcome to join us to refresh their knowledge and sharpen their skills.

This training is required to become a facilitator within Merimnao, but is open to any person who would like to be trained in how to lead Christ-centered support groups.  There is no formal charge, we do ask that new facilitators donate $25 which helps us cover the costs of the materials we hand out and other expenses.
